Mr. Fonteno, Jr. has 21 years of investment banking experience with UBS Investment Bank (and its predecessor entity, PaineWebber) and Estrada Hinojosa & Company. He has worked on a broad range of infrastructure transactions in the fields of power, transportation, utilities, convention/conference/hotel facilities and sports stadiums. Mr. Fonteno, Jr. has good knowledge of PPP, privatization and concession issues, and maintains relationships with the major international infrastructure funds. Additionally, he has substantial experience in private equity financing, institutional real estate development, and international business in Latin America, Asia and the Middle East.
Mr. Fonteno, Jr. also has an extensive background in public policy matters beginning with his appointment by President George H.W. Bush as a Policy Advisor to the US Environmental Protection Agency. He later served 14 years as a Commissioner of the Port of Houston Authority, the 2nd largest port in the United States, and was on the boards of Asia Society of Texas and World Affairs Council of Houston, respectively. He also served on the Board of Trustees of the $100+ billion Texas Teachers Retirement System and was Chairman of its Alternative Assets investment committee.
