Lourdes Reyes Abadin has been involved with Florida public finance for the past 30+ years, having initially served in the public sector as Deputy Director and CFO of the Miami Sports & Exhibition Authority (MSEA), an autonomous agency of the City of Miami. During her tenure at MSEA she was responsible for the financing of the Miami Arena, and the financial analysis and business models related to the NBA, MLB and NHL Miami expansion teams.   She specialized in investment banking when she joined a Wall Street Firm in 1993. In the midst of her investment banking career she was recruited to serve as Comptroller of the City of Miami to assist with a financial crisis that led the Florida Governor to appoint a Financial Oversight Board. Thereafter, she returned to the investment banking industry, again specializing in Public Finance. Her expertise includes present-day knowledge of financial products and currencies,  financial modeling and solutions, credit valuation and rating analysis, official documentation and disclosures, educational publicities and pre-marketing of bonds, etc.  She has addressed various panels on ARPA funds and Public Private Partnerships (“P3’s”), and has served as P3 Municipal Advisor.

Ms. Abadin inaugurated Estrada Hinojosa’s Florida office in 2003, and leads all Florida efforts as well partakes on transactions with the New York, Chicago and Texas offices.   She is a Senior Managing Director and a member of the Board of Directors of the Firm. Over the years, Ms. Abadin has gained much recognition for her in-depth knowledge and vast experience in Florida public finance.  She is also credited for her experience in other diverse sectors.  Prior to being involved with municipal finance, she worked at FPL and was involved in their Quality Improvement Program that earned FPL the Deming Award of Excellence.

Ms. Abadin is actively involved with the community.  She currently serves on the Board of Banyan Health Systems as a member of its Executive Committee, Chairs the Real Estate Committee and is a member of the Foundation.  She is a Vice President of the Miami-Dade County Commission for Women.  She is a past National Board Member of  Women in Public Finance and serves on the Mentorship and DEI committees, as well as a member of the Florida Chapter.  She is a mentor with Women of Tomorrow, and is a frequent speaker for the FGFOA. She is fluent in English and Spanish.

Ms. Abadin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Florida International University, and has taken MBA studies at Nova Southeastern University.  She is a FINRA Series 7 Registered Representative, Series 50 Municipal Advisor Representative, and a past Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO).
